Robert Crawford Ford, 89, Independence, MO, formerly Harrisonville, MO, died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville. Funeral services 10:00 AM Friday, June 27, 2008 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville. Visitation 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, June 26 at the chapel with Masonic Services at 8:00 PM. Burial in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO. Contributions may be made to The Shriner Hospital for Children, 2001 South Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63131.

Robert was born December 10, 1918 in Freeman, MO, the son of Robert Glen and Grace (Stice) Ford. He was a graduate of Harrisonville High School. He had lived in Archie, MO and Kansas City, MO before moving to Harrisonville.

Bob worked for Lake City Ammunitions Plant for 27 years before retiring. He was a member of the Grand River Baptist Church and the Blue Ridge Baptist Temple and later attended The Worship Center. He was also a member and past master of the Marlborough Lodge #569 (which is now Blue Springs Lodge #337), Ararat Shrine and the Ararat Legion of Honor, Kansas City Elks Lodge #26, the American Legion Tirey J. Ford Post #21, Independence, MO and the VFW Post 4409, Harrisonville. Bob was a WWII Navy Air Corp. veteran.

Bob enjoyed music, dancing and NASCAR. He loved to travel and had been to Alaska, Hawaii, East and West Coast, England, Scotland, Ireland and Spain, just to name a few places.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jewell Ford, an infant son, Gordon Craig Ford and two brothers, Eugene and David Ford. He is survived by one son, Bob A. Ford and his wife, Ginny, Harrisonville, MO; companion of 18 years, Venita Starr, Independence, MO and two grandchildren, Jason Ford and his wife, Christi, Archie, MO and Emily Thieverge and her husband, Richard, Grain Valley, MO and two great-grandchildren, Allison and Robbie.
