Robert "Bob" Eugene Nissen, Sr., 93, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at his home.  Funeral services were held  Wednesday, November 11, 2020  at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri. Interment in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery,  Harrisonville.

Robert was born on July 19, 1927 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Harry R. Nissen and Mildred V. (Olson) Nissen. Bob graduated from Ruskin High School with the Class of 1945. After high school, he enlisted for the US Navy, serving a short period due to the war ending. He went on to marry Mary Jeane Long on August 16, 1947 and to this union three children were born. Jeane and Bob lived in Grandview, Missouri for 33 years before then moving to Peculiar, Missouri where he would live until his passing. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 35 years, then decided after retirement to deliver mail for the USPS in Peculiar for 11 years. Many will remember Bob as being one to enjoy working on his land, whether that was when he had cows or taking up hay, he always could find something needing done. In his free time, he was known for playing cards, especially Pitch with his neighbors and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Jeane. He is survived by his children: Robert Eugene Nissen, Jr. of Peculiar, MO; Kevin R. (Cheryl) Nissen of Belton, MO; and Lyn (Jeff) Howell of Overland Park, KS; his 3 grandchildren: Julie (Jeff) Marks, Chris (Jamie) Howell, and Jennie (Kevin) Strathman; and his 7 great-grandchildren: Hunter and Colton Marks, Avery and Miles Howell, and Libby, Miley, and Tori Strathman.
