Obituary

Robert "Bob" E. Shelton, 93, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Monday, November 16, 2015 at his home. Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2015 at the First Christian Church, Harrisonville, with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church Memorial Fund.

Bob was born June 15, 1922 in Butler, Missouri, the son of Loel Dwight and Mabel Agatha (Jenkins) Shelton. He was a 1940 graduate of Adrian High School. Bob married Mildred L. Sollars on October 12, 1946 at the Methodist Church parsonage in Adrian, Missouri. They moved to Harrisonville in 1951.

In 1946, after the war, Bob started working for the Adrian Journal on a GI bill, running the linotype. He moved to Harrisonville in 1950 and began working for the Cass County Democrat Missourian running the linotype, retiring in 1993 as production manager. He was a member of the Heart of America Model A Ford Club in Kansas City and the Harrisonville VFW. He was an active member of the First Christian Church in Harrisonville, and had served as a board member and a deacon.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Betty Ann Kimble, an infant son, Edward Shelton. He is survived by his wife, Mildred, of the home; one son, Darold Shelton (Dee), one daughter, Delores Beeman (Butch), all of Harrisonville, Missouri; one brother, Arnold Shelton, Flemington, Missouri; three grandchildren, Christopher Beeman, Kansas City, Missouri, Jonathan Beeman (Amy), Boston, Massachusetts, and Lisa Mitchell (Matt), Harrisonville, Missouri; and four great-grandchildren, Mason, Madison and Max Mitchell and Olivia Beeman.
