Robert Lee Drury, 84, Archie, MO, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville, MO. Funeral services 2:00 PM Saturday, February 16 at the Atkinson Chapel, Archie. Burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, MO. Visitation 6:00-8:00 PM Friday at the chapel with Masonic services at 8:00. Contributions to American Cancer Society.


Robert was born July 8, 1923 in Sawyer, KS, the son of Richard "Bud" Lawson and Rosa Lee (Mace) Drury. He was a 1941 graduate of Archie High School. During WWII, Robert served in the U.S. Army with the 126th Signal Radio Intelligence Company in the Pacific Theater. Robert married Ada Imogene Osborn on August 15, 1947 at the First Baptist Church in Harrisonville and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Robert was employed at the Leeds General Motors Assembly Plant in Kansas City, MO for 30 years before retiring in 1976. He was a member of the UAW Local #93.

After retiring from GM, Robert enjoyed working part time for Green-Lamp Furniture in Harrisonville. He was a 50-year member and past post Commander of the American Legion Post 536, Archie, MO. He was also a 50-year member and past Master of the Archie Masonic Lodge #633. Robert enjoyed bowling and spending time with his family.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Henry, Stanley and Harry Dean Drury and two sisters, Marie Mickelberry and Bonnie White. He is survived by his wife, Jean, of the home; four sons, Robert Drury and his wife, Vickie, Harrisonville, MO, Gary Drury and his wife, Linda, Leavenworth, KS; Rick Drury and his wife, Cindy, Janesville, WI, Bill Drury and his wife, Diane, Adrian, MO; one daughter, Deborah Nichols and her husband, James, Murfreesboro, TN; one sister, Velma Murray, Archie, MO; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
