Robert Francis Daniels, 75, Archie, MO, died Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Cass Regional Medical Center, Harrisonville, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Harrisonville with burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 7 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, with Rosary at 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
Robert was born April 17, 1933 in Martin County, Minnesota, the son of Joseph Harold and Elsie Ann (Ott) Daniels. He married Suzanne Mary Hall on January 3, 1959. He had lived in Minnesota until moving to the Harrisonville, MO area.
Robert was a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran and a member of the 447 Tactical Wing-Reserve. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Robert was also a member of the International Society of Poets and was appointed by the Governor of Missouri as the official Missouri Poet Laureate. Robert was also a member of the VFW Local 4402. He worked as an Aircraft Mechanic for the Civil Service, retiring in 1988.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Jeffrey Daniels, one brother, Richard Daniels, one sister, Jeanne Rogge and an infant brother, James Daniels. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne, of the home; one son, Gregory Daniels, Belton, MO; six daughters, Kathleen Daniels, Belton, MO, Camille Daniels, LaPlata, MD, Eve Herndon, Kansas City, MO, Marilyn Clarke, Blue Springs, MO, Anne Monteer, Olathe, KS and Cynthia Daniels, Grandview, MO; six brothers, David Daniels, MN, Thomas Daniels, MN, Donald Daniels, KS, Joseph Daniels, TN, Steven Daniels, MN and Daryl Daniels, CA; two sisters, Beverly Schwing and Laurel Meriwether, PA; 20 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
