IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Leroy
Crook
January 1, 1938 – August 7, 2020
Robert Leroy Crook, 82, of Drexel, Missouri passed away on Friday, August 7, 2020 at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. A visitation was held on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville Missouri, with a graveside service immediately following at Carpenter Cemetery in Chilhowee, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, Leroy would like donations sent to Carpenter Cemetery where he and Shirley rest.
Leroy was born on January 1, 1938 in West Line, Missouri, a son of William Dewey and Dortha Corin (Davenport) Crook. He married Shirley Stewart on June 4, 1965 at Bro. Joe Brewster's house. Leroy attended school in Freeman, MO after which he enlisted and served in the army for 8 years. Once he returned home, got married and spent 30+ years as a road grater operator for Cass County while raising beef cattle on his farm.
Throughout his life, Leroy was a supporter, provider and a problem solver. Giving selflessly to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, there was no request too great for him to meet. Leroy earned himself several unofficial titles within the family: Jigsaw Puzzler, Card Game Enthusiast, Support Pillar, Hero, Provider, #1 Fan at any concerts or sporting events and probably the most commonly used Ornery Old Fart. Never was there a day you couldn't call on Leroy for a laugh, a leg up or some of his legendary sassy sarcasm which much to their parents' chagrin has rubbed off on all the grandkids.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley Crook; and his sister, Barbara (Jim) Muchmore. He is survived by his sister, Kaye (Jon) Seabaugh; two daughters: Dee Baker and Peggy Moore (Dennis); five grandchildren: Stephen Shoaf (Nikki), Jessica Crawford (Matthew), Bobby Baker, Joseph Moore, Katrina Weir (Cameron); and six great-grandchildren.
