Robert "Bob" Bunger, 85, Harrisonville, Missouri died Sunday, January 31, 2016 at his home in Harrisonville. A Memorial Visitation was held Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice.

Bob was born October 15, 1930 in Garden City, Missouri, a son of Charles F. and Una (Bullock) Bunger. He was a lifelong Harrisonville resident. Bob was united in marriage to Alberta Lee Wiley, August 5, 1951, at the home of Rev. Joe Brewster, west of Harrisonville.

Bob worked his whole life, beginning at an early age. He started shining shoes at Larkey's Barber Shop on the Harrisonville square, then washed dishes at the Harrisonville Bus Station. He lived with his sister in Osceola, Missouri for a while and worked at the Osceola Cheese Factory. He returned to Harrisonville and started driving a truck for Willard Collup, running the milk route from local farmers to the plant in Kansas City.

He later started working with his brother, Charlie Bunger, at the Acuff Chevrolet Garage in Harrisonville. Bob started off washing and detailing cars, and eventually became a mechanic. The Bunger brothers, Bob, Charlie, Wayne and Wendel, worked together for a few years before Bob opened his own garage in 1966. All the local events were discussed daily at the Bunger Garage Coffee Club. Bob was a fixture at all the local auctions, and each auctioneer had a permanent number for him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Alberta, of the home; three sons, Edward Bunger and wife, Julie, Dennis Bunger and wife, Cathy, and Randy Bunger, all of Harrisonville; a daughter, Brenda Ford and husband, Jeff, Harrisonville, and his adopted daughter, Karen Snead Ausmer, Harrisonville; three sisters, Naomi "Tiny" Burton and Francis Gunn, both of Harrisonville, and Betty Mitchell, Pleasant Hill, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
