Obituary

Robert "Bob" Burk Bergfalk, 85, of Harrisonville, MO, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at his home. Memorial services were  held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023  at  the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Shiloh Center in Harrisonville, MO.

Bob was born on August 12, 1937 in Duluth, MN, to Joseph and Lillian (Burk) Bergfalk. He grew up in the Duluth, MN area, graduating High School in Superior, WI. After high school, he went on to serve in the US Air Force from 1955 - 1959. Bob continued his education at the University of Minnesota, earning his Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering. He worked at a few different locations in Minnesota, before going to work at Merrick & Company in Denver, CO from March 1981 until August 2000 and went on to work for Burns & McDonnell in Kansas City, MO, in September of 2000 until his retirement in May of 2018. During his career, he earned his Professional Engineer Certificate. After his retirement, he enjoyed working at Hoots Hollow Golf Course part-time.

Bob married Elizabeth Holtz on August 6, 1982 in Arvada, CO. They enjoyed creating their home in Harrisonville, MO, in October of 2000. They became members of Harrisonville Community Church and later members of Abundant Life Church. Bob was best known for his adventurous spirit, enjoying ice skating, skiing, snowboarding, running, sky diving, scuba diving, and golf. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; his step-brother, Glen Bergfalk; his step-sister, Sandy Robinson; and his brother-in-law, Richard Rossie. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, of the home; his sons: Kent (Cindy) Bergfalk of Morrison, CO; Allen Bergfalk of Oklahoma City, OK; Michael Bergfalk of Salt Lake City, UT; and Christopher Bergfalk of Butler, MO; his daughters: Suzanne Bergfalk of Las Vegas, NV; Alisha Bergfalk of Raymore, MO; and Stephanie (Ricky) Swartz of Independence, MO; his sisters: Jean (Tom) McIndoo and Kathy Rossie; his step-brother, E.T. (Margot) Bissell; his sister-in-law, Suzi Bergfalk; 18 grandchildren: Justin (Erica) Bergfalk, Jason (Judit) Bergfalk, Joshua Bergfalk, Cody Bergfalk, Tyler Bergfalk, Dillon Bergfalk, Presley Carman, Kirin Busby, Story Bergfalk, Arrow Bergfalk, Calissa Swartz, Pheonix Swartz, Gemma Swartz, Casen Siebert, Kensie Siebert, Charlotte Bergfalk, Chevy Bergfalk, and Sonny Bergfalk; 3 great-grandchildren: Blake Bergfalk, Jane Bergfalk, and Elliot Bergfalk due in April 2023.
