Rita Kay Scott, 74, Adrian, MO, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at her home.  Funeral services were held  Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Adrian.   Burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian.  Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church or to Crossroads Hospice.

Rita was born April 27, 1945, in Butler, MO, the daughter of Lynwood R. Johnson and Ruth Lorene Marshall Johnson.  She married Russell Scott on August 30, 1964.  To this union, twin boys were born, Trent and Brent.

Rita was a member of the First Baptist Church in Adrian, MO, for 65 years, where she was baptized on July 11, 1954.  She was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.  For 36 years, Rita touched the lives of many students as the secretary of the Adrian High School.  Rita loved rug hooking, reading, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.  She especially loved time spent with her grandson, Drew.  She was so excited about Drew's wedding in October, which gave her a beautiful new granddaughter.  This was a special moment in her life that all of us will remember.

Rita was preceded in death by her son, Trent Scott, her parents, Lynwood and Lorene Johnson, her brothers, Leland Johnson and Don Johnson, and her brother-in-law, Melvin Smith.  She is survived by her son, Brent and wife, Kari Scott, Adrian, MO; one grandson, Drew and wife, Makyna Scott, Overland Park, KS; two sisters, Jeweldine Smith, Adrian, MO and Linda Zelazny and husband, Jerry, Sierra Vista, AZ; one brother, Larry Johnson and wife, Fran, Lee's Summit, MO; two sisters-in-law, Vonda Johnson, Liberty, MO and Arlene Johnson, Lee's Summit, MO, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
