Rita Delynne Peek, 71, Peculiar, Missouri, died Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the Wolford Cemetery in Houston, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 17 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Cass County 4-H.

Rita was born July 4, 1943 in Houston, Missouri, the daughter of Stanley and Hazel (Miller) Hicks. She was a 1961 graduate of Houston High School. She had lived in Sedalia, Missouri and Kansas City before moving to Peculiar in 1970. Rita married Richard W. Peek on December 14, 1968 in Kansas City, Missouri. She worked for Sears-Roebuck for 23 years in Kansas City before retiring in 1988. She also owned a ceramics shop in her home, Rita's Precious Creations.

Rita was preceded in death by her father and a son, Donald Eugene Stevenson. She is survived by her husband, Richard, of the home; one son, David Stevenson and wife, Amy, Peculiar, Missouri; her mother, Hazel Hicks, a brother, Richard Hicks, and two sisters, Rowena Moore and Rose Ward, all of Houston, Missouri; and one grandson, Austin Stevenson.
