Rieta Joyce Anderson, 81, East Lynne, MO, passed away Monday, July 27, 2020 at her home.  Funeral services were held  Friday, July 31, 2020, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.  Burial in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO.  Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.

Rieta was born May 21, 1939 in Kansas City, MO, a daughter of Loyce Opal and Bertha Christine (Hansen) Riggs.  She married Gordon Anderson on August 13, 1955 in Pleasant Hill, MO.  Rieta attended cosmetology school and worked as a beautician for 67 years. She also drove a school bus for East Lynne Schools.  Rieta enjoyed sewing and especially western shirts for the girls.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a founding member of the Midwest Barrel Racing Association and a member of the National Barrel Horse Association.

Rieta is survived by her husband of 65 years, Gordon Anderson, of the home; two daughters, Rieta Kaye Anderson Manning, Harrisonville, MO and Sheila Sue Anderson Bridges, Pleasant Hill, MO; two grandsons, J. D. Manning (Kara), Clinton, MO and Brady Manning (Abbey), Greenwood, MO; one brother, Rex Riggs (Starr), Harrisonville; one sister, Sharon Riggs Spencer (Gary), Udall, KS; 2 great-grandsons; 4 great-granddaughters; several nieces and nephews.
