Richard Charles Holmes, 61, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on July 17, 2024, at the age of 61. Memorial services to celebrate Richard's life were held at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville on July 24, 2024. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to American Lung Association.

Richard was born on November 14, 1962, in Kansas City, MO, the son of John Richard and Elaine (Bucholtz) Holmes. Richard was known for his unwavering commitment to his family and his passion for mechanics.

Having graduated from Ruskin High School in 1982, Richard married the love of his life, Kimberly Moore, on June 15, 1984. A skilled mechanic by trade, he could fix anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His love for antiques and cars showcased his appreciation for craftsmanship and dedication to his craft.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Holmes, of the home; his son, Richard (Bonita) Holmes, II, of Kansas City, MO; sisters-in-law: Julie Etter, Debbie Chaney, and Paula (Bill) Krause; sister, Wendy Holmes; aunt, Annette Franco; his grand-puppies, Eddie "Wigglesworth" Holmes and Ladybug; and many other family and friends.
