Richard Neil Berry, 85, of Kansas City, MO (formerly of Harrisonville, MO), a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. No services are scheduled at this time per Richard's wishes.
Richard was born on January 20, 1939, in Harrisonville, Missouri, a son of Curtis Neil and Ruth (Bishop) Berry. Richard graduated from Harrisonville High School and dedicated an impressive 47 years of his life to Hallmark Cards, where he worked in Metal Graphics. Starting humbly by making lids for card boxes, Richard's hard work and determination led him to a successful career, culminating in his expertise in creating the steel plates that brought countless card designs to life. His commitment to quality and craftsmanship left an indelible mark on the company and the many who had the pleasure of working alongside him.
On June 16, 1957, Richard married his loving spouse, Judy Little, in Harrisonville. They met in grade school and together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared passions. Outside of work and family, Richard had a passion for life. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and engaging in friendly games of cards with friends and family. His appreciation for classical music was a testament to his love for the arts and creativity. Richard will be remembered not only for his work ethic and dedication but also for his warm heart and kind spirit. He touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles Berry; and his son-in-law, Mark Byler. Richard is survived by his wife of 67 years, Judy; his daughter, Hope Byler; sons: Richard Keith Berry and Kendall Trace (Anissa) Berry; three grandchildren: Bradley Joseph, Alex Michael, and Charlotte; and three great-grandchildren: Lane, Laken, and Ava. His family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent together.
