Rex Ro Garland, Jr., 90, Harrisonville, Missouri, formerly of Archie, Missouri, died Friday, March 1, 2013 at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or American Heart Association.

Rex was born September 29, 1922 in Archie, Missouri, the son of Rex Ro and Lillian Launa (Lacey) Garland. He was a 1941 graduate of Archie High School and had lived in Archie and Harrisonville most of his life.

Rex was a WWII Navy veteran. He married Dicea Dean Minnick on July 1, 1949 at the First Baptist Church in Archie. He worked for General Motors, Leeds Plant in Kansas City, Missouri, as a metal finisher for 30 years before retiring in 1979. He was a member of the UAW Local 93. Rex was a member of First Baptist Church in Archie, Missouri.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dicea Dean on April 13, 2007 and one brother, Robert Garland. He is survived by one son, Jim Garland and his wife, Diana, Springfield, Missouri; two daughters, Jackie Taylor and her husband, Charles, Pleasant Hill, Missouri and Jean Garland, Grandview, Missouri; 3 grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter.
