Obituary

Ralph Leslie Knox, 83, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with burial in Wills Cemetery, Peculiar, Missouri. A visitation, with Masonic Services, was held Wednesday, January 27, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice.

Ralph was born July 6, 1932 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, the son of David Monroe and Rosa May (Malicoat) Knox. He married Shirley Lue Harper on May 27, 1951 in Harrisonville. Ralph was a U.S. Navy veteran during the Korean War. He worked for Clarkson Construction in Kansas City, Missouri until his retirement. He was a member of the Cass Masonic Lodge No. 147 AF&AM, Harrisonville, and the VFW Post 4409, Harrisonville. He enjoyed his friends, horses, tractors, stock car races and dancing.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 62 years, Shirley on August 30, 2013, four brothers, Maurice Knox, Cecil Knox, Bill Knox and Larry Knox, and one sister, Marjorie Kisner. He is survived by one son, David Knox (Cathy), Lee's Summit, Missouri; two daughters, Sondra McCrary (Glen), Belton, Missouri, and Crystal Whisenhunt (Jason), Clinton, Missouri; one brother, Harvey Knox (Billie Jean), Harrisonville, Missouri; three sisters, Phyllis Hughes (Bill), Harrisonville, Missouri, Joyce Stevens and Mary Miller, both of Adrian, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Tracy Dinges (Lance), Charla Hetherington (Brian), Ryan Gerster, Dawn Dussetschleger, and Jami Dussetschleger; and 2 great-grandchildren, Hannah Dinges and Anne Marie Hetherington.
