Ralph Gerald Hawkins, Jr. 88 of Harrisonville, MO died Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville. Burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Visitation 1:00-2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.

Ralph was born July 14, 1922 in Blue Springs, MO, the son of Ralph Gerald and Laura Ruth (Rohrs) Hawkins, Sr. He married Opal Marie Goddard on September 27, 1946 in Olathe, KS. They moved to Harrisonville in 1963. Ralph owned and operated Cortez Motel from 1963-1975 before retiring. He also worked for Lake City and Bendix as a security officer. Ralph was a U. S. Army veteran and was a member of the Harrisonville VFW Post 4409. He was a Baptist.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Opal, of the home; one son, Randy Hawkins and his wife, Mary Michele, Harrisonville, MO; two daughters, Sharon Weaver, Harrisonville, MO and Pam Ater and her husband, Tim, Nevada, MO; one brother, John Hawkins, Cotter, AR; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
