Rachel Lea Maxwell, 42, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Monday, October 12, 2015 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 15 at the Church of the Nazarene in Harrisonville with burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville.

Rachel was born January 17, 1973 in Harvey, North Dakota, the daughter of Lewis Daniel and Judith Lea (Damon) Weigelt. She graduated from Mid America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas, in 1995, receiving a degree in Physics. She married Christopher Maxwell on June 3, 1995 in Grandview, Missouri. They lived in Kansas City, Kansas and Wisconsin before moving to Harrisonville in 2002.

Rachel worked at the Harrisonville Christian School as a math teacher. She was a member of and was worship leader at the Church of the Nazarene in Harrisonville and has been very active in both the Christian School and the Harrisonville Schools.

Rachel is survived by her husband, Dr. Chris Maxwell, one son, Wyatt Christopher Maxwell, two daughters, Lily Grace Maxwell and Greta Katherine Maxwell, all of the home; her parents, Lewis and Judy Weigelt, Harvey, North Dakota; one brother, Brian Weigelt, Washington, D.C. and one sister, Ashley Weigelt, Grand Forks, North Dakota.
