Prentice Rector "P.R." Hancock, Jr., 82, Belton, Missouri, died Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Beautiful Savior Home in Belton. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2014 at the West Line Christian Church in Cleveland, Missouri with burial in Glenwild Cemetery, Cleveland. Friends may call 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 21 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri.
P. R. was born April 3, 1932 in Bolivar, Missouri, the son of Prentice Rector and Nettie Eunice (Jones) Hancock. He was a 1949 graduate of Bolivar High School. He was united in marriage to Virginia Sterling on June 12, 1954. They celebrated their 60th anniversary this year.
After his discharge from the Army, P. R. moved to Grandview, Missouri. They moved to the farm in Cleveland, Missouri in 1970 and to Belton in 2011. P. R. was a U. S. Army veteran. He worked as a lineman for KCP&L for 34 years before retiring in 1992.
P. R. was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Cynthia Hancock on January 25, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Virginia, of the home; one son, Prentice Hancock, III and wife, Rebecca, Bolivar, Missouri; two daughters, Renee King and husband, Chuck, Pleasant Hill, Missouri and Tina Miller and husband, Bob, Drexel, Missouri; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
