Phillip "Phil" Leon Curtis, 82, of Raymore, MO (formerly of Harrisonville), passed away Thursday, December 19, 2019 at his home in Raymore, MO. Memorial services were held December 28, 2019 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.
Phil was born July 7, 1937 in St. John, Kansas, a son of Randall and Augusta (Dorrschuck) Curtis. He graduated from Fort Hays State University with a Bachelors of Science in 1961. He married Marilyn Thomas on June 7, 1959 in Plainville, Kansas, and to this 60 year union they had two sons, Steve and Scott. He lived in Harrisonville from 1980 until his recent move to Raymore in 2017. He spent his career working as an Insurance Agent and Manager for State Farm Insurance, retiring in 1998 after 31 years. During his life, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriner's and Area Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed duck and deer hunting, but most will remember his love for spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him, especially his family.
Phil is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his brother, Eldean (Mert) Curtis; his sons: Steve (Kim) Curtis and Scott (Molly) Curtis; his grandchildren: Mackenzie Curtis, Blake (Brenna) Curtis, Chase Curtis, and Stacy (Paul) Rhodes; his great-grandchildren: Kade Curtis, Jayce Rhodes, and Hank Curtis; He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial donations are suggested to Ascend Hospice or Harrisonville Methodist Church.
