Obituary

Peggy Lou Petty, 97, of Adrian, MO, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Medicalodge of Butler. Graveside services were held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, Missouri. Memorial Contributions can be made to Lt. Charles Garrison Veteren's Memorial. 

Peggy Lou Petty was born on November 28, 1928, to Walter Dean Summers and Ruby Kathlyn Mullis in Kansas City, KS. Peggy married John Edward Petty on October 29, 1943, in Butler, MO. To this union, five children were born: Cheryl, Steve, Jerry, Denny, and John. 

She worked in various restaurants like Dog N Suds and Sam's Highway Hamburgers in Butler, MO. Peggy was active in her community, being in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, helping with Adrian Optimist Bingo Night, and a member of the Adrian Christian Church. Peggy and John spent time together bowling, camping at Truman Lake, and spending winters in Texas. She loved her very large family and was proud of them all.

Peggy Lou Petty is preceded in death by her parents, husband, John; daughter, Cheryl Bagby; son, Jerry Petty; grandson, Brian Petty; brothers: Warren Dean Summers and Joseph Summers; sisters: Virginia Cox and Marilyn Vidal; great-great-grandchild, Parkyr Hair. She is survived by her sons: Steve (Linda) Petty, Denny Petty, and John "Bufe" (Jonna) Petty; grandchildren Jay (Lynn) Bagby, Alan (Sarona) Bagby, Scott (Megan) Bagby, Kristen (Darrin) Morrow, Megan (Gabe) Cantrell, Kelli (Perry) Heckadon, Karli (Ken) Romine, Codi (Tim) Jennings, Kade Petty, Dylan (Shuanna) Petty, Adam (Chelsea) Petty, and Shaun Havens; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
