Patrick Francis Chevreaux, 82, Peculiar, MO, formerly of Poplar Bluff, MO, died Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Golden Years Care Center in Harrisonville, MO. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 20, 2009 at the St. Peters Episcopal Church in Harrisonville. Inurnment will be held at a later date in New Auburn Cemetery, Auburn, CA. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or to St Peters Episcopal Church, Harrisonville.
Pat was born September 14, 1926 in Oklahoma City, OK, the son of Herman and Martha (Moore) Chevreaux. He was a 1944 graduate of Sullivan, MO High School. Pat married Emma Louise "Lou" Colby on July 7, 1984 in California. He had lived in Ohio and St. Louis, MO before moving to California.
Pat became Postmaster of Elverta, California in 1965 and in 1972 he took the postmaster's job in Sonora, California. He got the San Luis Obispo assignment on April 22, 1978 and retired November 1, 1985. Pat had lived in Peculiar for the last two years. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and the Mail Handler's Union.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Andrews and Joe Chevreaux. He is survived by his wife, Lou Chevreaux, of Peculiar, MO; one daughter, Linda Sanders, Cedar City, UT and a foster son, Army Staff Sergeant, Gerald Benitez, Raeford, NC; one brother, Paul Chevreaux, Wichita, KS and nine grandchildren.
