Patricia Josephine Helen
Shell
September 16, 1941 – May 4, 2026
Patricia Josephine Helen (Stockman) Shell was born on September 16, 1941, to Raymond Joseph and Josephine Mary Christine (Wolken) Stockman in Jefferson City, Missouri. Known as Pat to her friends and family; her most treasured name was Ma, given to her by her beloved grandchildren. She was often quoted saying, “I’m not a grandma; I’m a Ma!” Ma was one of 10 children and enjoyed a boisterous, yet religious upbringing. After graduating high school, she was married and had three children: Gayle, Donna and Stephen. The family moved to Harrisonville where she spent the majority of life.
Despite being handed a difficult lot in life, Ma met her challenges head-on with resilience, strength, determination and love. She let her love for Christ guide her in all things, choosing forgiveness and kindness over all. At the age of 50, Pat graduated from Central Missouri State University with her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and she was extremely proud of this major accomplishment. She continued to work in office management until she retired from Heartland Baptist Fellowship in her 70's.
Ma enjoyed playing cards, working in the garden, mowing, collecting lighthouses, creating arts and crafts, watching the KC Chiefs and KC Royals, and had a love of popcorn that she passed down through the generations. She had a laugh that could be heard from miles away and the most terrible singing voice, yet she would call and leave a Happy Birthday voicemail for her grandchildren anyway!
Pat passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026, at home, surrounded by love and her grandchildren. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond & Josephine; her siblings: Raymond, Gene, Russell, Murrill, Kay, Darlene, and Melvin; her two daughters: Gayle and Donna; and one grandson, Troy. She is survived by her son, Stephen; her grandchildren: Rachael, Daniel, Tiffany, Sean, Brandan, and Jason; her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her two remaining brothers: Mike and Tommy; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Ma loved with her whole soul and her family takes comfort in the fact that she was reunited with her loved ones and is now resting in the arms of the Lord.
