Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Louise Bishop, 74, of Harrisonville, MO, died Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, TX. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville. Burial will be in Belton Cemetery, Belton, MO. Visitation 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 1 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, P.O. Pat was born March 18, 1936 in Kansas City, MO to Kenneth and Elsie Mae ( Enfield ) Wyman. She was a 1954 graduate of Belton High School where she met her husband of nearly 56 years, Elmer Bishop. They were married July 2nd, 1954.

Pat drove a school bus for the Grandview Consolidated District for 17 years. She was a co-founder and first president of the SSJAA girls softball league. Pat was on the Advisory Board and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Salvation Army in Grandview, MO. She also was the first woman elected as a city Council member in the history of Grandview and served on the Grandview City Planning Commission.

Pat was an avid golfer and was a member and officer of the ladies Golf League at Twin Pines Country Club in Harrisonville. She was a member of the River Bend Ladies Golf League in Brownsville, Texas, along with memberships in the M.W.G.A. and the Missouri +50 ladies association. She enjoyed watching sports, especially tennis, basketball, ice skating, golf and the Oakland Raiders.

Pat was member of the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville and deeply loved her family and cared so much for her friends and pets.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Elmer of the home; one son, Kenneth " Butch " Bishop and his wife, Crystal of Belton, MO; one daughter Susan McCune and her husband, Doug of Raymore, MO; one brother, George Wyman and his wife, Connie of Cleveland, MO; two sisters, Peggy Wyatt and her husband, J.R. " Skip " Wyatt of Rocky Mount, MO and Susan Weaver and her husband, Jim, of Chesapeake, VA; two grandchildren, Bret and Kendra Bishop of Belton, MO, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
