Leslie was born May 12, 1932 in rural Gentry County, MO, the only son of Orville Leslie and Agnes (Boulting) Price, Sr. He was a 1951 graduate of Central High School in St. Joseph, MO. He accepted Jesus as his Savior at age nine. He was licensed to gospel ministry by the Savannah Avenue Baptist Church in St. Joseph, MO in 1950.

He attended Central Seminary in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Golden Gate Seminary in Berkeley, CA in 1958. Leslie was ordained to gospel ministry by the Wyatt Park Baptist Church in St. Joseph.

While in seminary, Leslie met Virginia Rhea Pinkley from Bruceton, TN. They were united in marriage on December 22, 1957 in Berkeley, CA. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Harrisonville.

Following retirement, Leslie and his faithful wife, Virginia, served as Southern Baptist Home Mission Board volunteers in Missouri, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Texas.
