Obituary

O.L. "Wayne" Collins, 72, of Harrisonville, MO, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at his home in Harrisonville. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Saturday at the Harrisonville United Methodist Church. The family will recieve friends 2:00-3:00pm Saturday at the church.Cremation with private burial at a later date. Contributions to the Kansas City Hospice.

Wayne was born September 30, 1935 in Leachville, AR, a son of Milburn and Marie (Owen) Collins. Wayne lived in the Kansas City area before moving to Harrisonville in 1966. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
He was united in marriage to Jerrie L. Willey on May 2, 1959 in Kansas City. Wayne was a bail bondsman and a Cass County Undersheriff before being elected the Cass County, Missouri Assessor in 1977. He held the office for 20 years until his retirement in 1997.
Wayne was very active in civic affairs and was a member of the Lions Club, the Harrisonville Rotary Club, and the United Methodist Church. He was a Scout Leader of Boy Scout Troop #3 and was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was on the Oakland Cemetery Board and was a Democratic Committeeman for 30 years.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, his step-parents and a son, Donald Collins.
He is survived by his wife, Jerrie Collins, of the home; two daughters, Lisa Brown, of the home, and Marjorie Potts, Freeman, MO; two half brothers, Michael Homan, Big Bear Lake, CA, and Ret. Lt. Col. Dan Collins, WV; seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
