Obituary

Norman Kenneth (Kenny) Hilbus, 88, Adrian, Missouri, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018 at his home in Adrian.  Funeral services were held Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian.   Burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian.

Norman was born May 6, 1930 in West Line, Missouri, a son of Thurman Allen and Lola Luella (Castor) Hilbus.  Norman was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Kendrick on February 3, 1956 in Kansas City, MO.  He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was discharged as a Corporal in 1954.  Norman was a union painter for a number of years, and worked as a painter for the Missouri State Hospital in Nevada, Missouri for 17 years before his retirement in 1990.

Norman enjoyed playing his guitar, reading his bible, fishing, puzzle books and rabbit hunting. He and Barbara enjoyed going out to eat, singing songs together and listening to gospel music.

He was a member of the Assembly Of God in Adrian, and enjoyed going to the Cowboy Church in Louisburg, KS.  Norman was a member of VFW Post # 1935 in Adrian.  One of his biggest joys was spending time with family and friends.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Thurman Junior Hilbus, Robert Lee Hilbus, and Ralph Owen Hilbus; a sister, Eula Dean; and one granddaughter, Tammy.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara, of the home; children, Patricia Ann Brown, Butler, MO, Norman Dale (Sandy) Hilbus, Adrian, Allen Wayne (Dana) Hilbus, Butler, and Gregory Deuaine (Sis) Hilbus, Amoret, MO; eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and extended family.
