Norman Randall Dawson, 94, Lee's Summit, MO, died Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Village House in Lee's Summit. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO with visitation from 10:00-11:00. Burial will be in Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, MO.
Norman was born December 26, 1922 in Salem, Arkansas, the son of William M. and Minnie P. (Wall) Dawson. He married Loretta Foster on December 1, 1945 in Salem, AR. After her death, Norman married Mayme L. Foster on October 21, 2011.
Norman was a U.S. Army WWII veteran, having received five bronze stars. He worked for General Motors for 30 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local No. 93. Norman attended Longview Baptist Church in Lee's Summit and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Peculiar, MO.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Wayne, Urcell, and twin brother, Raymond Dawson, one sister, Ruby Dawson, and his first wife, Loretta . He is survived by his wife, Mayme, of the home; one son, R. Duane Dawson (Sue), Overland Park, KS; one daughter, Sheila Hunt (Ron), Raymore, MO; 2 grandchildren, Lori Jonas (Dan) and Ryan Dawson, and 5 great-grandchildren, Danielle, Eric, Zak, Matthew, and Micah; other family and many friends.
