Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nola Lea Gregg, age 61, of Warsaw, Missouri, who departed this world on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. In celebration of Nola's life, a gathering will be held at Jillian Barker's house, 820 S Buckner Tarsney Rd, Buckner, MO 64016, on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 3:00 PM. Family and friends are warmly invited to join together to share stories, laughter, and memories that honor Nola's vibrant spirit.

Nola was born on November 1, 1963, in Sedalia, Missouri, to Wally and Veta ( Coger ) Ward. Nola graduated from Knob Noster High School and dedicated her career to serving as an administrative assistant, showcasing her remarkable organizational skills at notable companies such as Burns & McDonnell and Berbiglia Wine & Spirits. Her work was not just a job; it was a reflection of her drive and commitment to excellence.

Nola married Billy Gregg on September 3, 2005, enjoying almost 20 years together. A devoted member of Antioch Southern Baptist Church, Nola's faith was an anchor in her life, guiding her through both joyous and challenging times. She had a passion for many hobbies, particularly fishing, painting ceramics, and crafting. A true glass aficionado, Nola possessed a wealth of knowledge about various types of glass and antiques, often assisting others in selling their treasures while also sharing her own.

Nola's vivacious spirit shone through her unwavering support for the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals, where her enthusiasm echoed in every cheer. However, it was her grandchildren who held her heart; their joy was her joy, and she went above and beyond for them, especially during the holiday season. Nola was a Christmas fanatic, transforming her home with delightful decorations, painting rooms red and green to create a magical atmosphere every year. She was a beloved force of nature who touched countless lives with her fiery spirit and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Nola was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; and her first husband, John Bertschy. She is survived by her loving husband, Billy Gregg; her children: Sherry Bertschy, Jamie Bertschy-Staley (Eric), Elizabeth Shultz, Jillian Barker (Brad), Samantha Davis (Mike), and Christopher Gregg (Taylor); 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends. Each of them carries forward her legacy of compassion, joy, and tenacity.
