Nadine Laverne Newport, 82, Adrian, MO, died Friday, March 25, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 29 at the Atkinson Chapel in Adrian. Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to the cemetery.

Nadine was born January 4, 1929 in Mulberry, KS, the daughter of Roscoe and Effie Virginia (Coats) Harris. She was united in marriage to Charles Wilson in 1946 in Nevada, MO. To this union one son was born, Edward Eugene Wilson.

Later Nadine and her son moved back to her parents' home in Appleton City, MO where she worked at the local telephone office and the hatchery. She later met Chester Newport and they were married in 1954. Chester adopted Ed as his son. Also to this marriage a daughter was born, Roberta.

Nadine enjoyed being a homemaker, being outside and helping on the farm. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. Her hobby was collecting roosters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Chester on February 5, 2006, her son, Ed and two brothers. She is survived by one daughter, Roberta Westhusing and her husband, Kevin, Adrian, MO; one sister, Betty Todd, Appleton City, MO; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
