Myrtle Maburt "Burt" Morrison, 79, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Thursday, August 25, 2016 at her home. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the spring, 2017. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to: Harrisonville Worship Center, P.O. Box 467, Harrisonville, MO 64701.
Burt was born November 21, 1936 in Cedar Point, Kansas, the daughter of Charles L. and Myrtle Pearl (Joseph) Scribner. She was a 1954 graduate and Valedictorian of Excelsior Springs High School. She graduated from the University of Kansas in Lawrence. She married Ferril Gene Morrison on May 1, 1955. They lived in Gower, Missouri before moving to Harrisonville in 1957, when Gene became the head football coach at Harrisonville High School.
Burt taught English at Cass-Midway Schools in Cleveland, Missouri for 25 years before retiring in June, 1995. She was a member of The Worship Center in Harrisonville and was a previous member of the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville.
Burt was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother, and her husband, Gene. She is survived by two sons, Les Morrison and Scott Morrison, both of Harrisonville, Missouri; one daughter, Alison Huttinger, Harrisonville; two brothers, Nat J. Scribner, Harrisonville and Alonzo Edward Scribner, Blackfort, Idaho; 8 grandchildren, Josh, Laura, Brian, Ashley, Valerie, Jacob, Josh, and John, and 6 great-grandchildren.
