Monte Joseph Cummins, 57, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016 in Harrisonville, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, July 15 at the Atkinson Funeral Home.

Monte was born December 11, 1958 in Harrisonville, Missouri, the son of Robert Ellis and Nina Katrine (Sweitzer) Cummins. He was a 1977 graduate of Harrisonville High School and lifelong resident of Harrisonville. Monte married Mary Beth Lusby on December 1, 1990 in Cairo, Missouri. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of Local #101. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Harrisonville and was an Eagle Scout and member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Monte was an avid fisherman and hunter, as well as golfer.

Monte was preceded in death by his father, Bob Cummins. He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth, of the home; one daughter, Mandi Ann Read and her husband, Michael, Harrisonville; his mother, Katrine Cummins, Harrisonville; one sister, Jeanie Cummins, Greensboro, North Carolina; and 3 grandsons, Dylan, Kale, and Rylee.
