Mildred L. Shelton, 94, Harrisonville, MO, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Willow Creek Memory Care in Lee's Summit, MO.  Funeral services were held  Saturday, September 12, 2020 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, MO.  Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, Harrisonville.

Mildred was born May 8, 1926 on the family farm in Adrian, MO, a daughter of Guy Ora and Freda Bertha (Hoegar) Sollars.  She attended Coleville School and was a 1943 graduate of Adrian High School.  She married Robert "Bob" E. Shelton on October 12, 1946 at the Adrian Methodist Church parsonage.  Mildred had lived in Adrian until moving to Harrisonville in 1951.  She worked for the Harrisonville School District as an administrative assistant from 1963 until retiring in 1992.

Mildred was a member of the First Christian Church in Harrisonville.  She and Bob were members of the Kansas City Model A Club.  They traveled all over the country for many years with her sister, Dorothy and her brother-in-law, Free.  Mildred was an avid bridge player and formed many dear friendships playing cards over the years.

Playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her ultimate source of happiness and she thoroughly enjoyed spoiling them.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, on November 16, 2015, two brothers, George Sollars and Russell Dean Sollars, one sister, Dorothy Ferguson, and an infant son, Edward Shelton.  She is survived by one son, Darold Shelton (Dee), and one daughter, Delores Beeman (Butch), all of Harrisonville, MO; 3 grandchildren, Lisa Mitchell (Matt), Chris Beeman and Jon Beeman (Amy), and 5 great-grandchildren, Mason, Madison, and Max Mitchell, and Olivia and Henry Beeman.
