Obituary

Mildred Louise Randall, 98, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 21 at the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville with visitation from 9:00-10:00 at the church. Burial will be in Floral Hills East Cemetery in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Contributions to Children's Mercy Hospital.

Mildred, the fifth child of Celia Virginia Stephens and Edward Dean Frazier, was born July 22, 1915 near Main City, Missouri. In 1918 the family moved to a farm at the north edge of Drexel, Missouri. She graduated from Drexel High School in 1933 and then attended college at Pittsburg, Kansas State Teachers College and taught at Smith rural school in Miami County, Kansas for two years.

In 1937 she married her high school sweetheart, James Woodrow Randall. In 1938 they moved to a farm in Jackson County, where their daughters, Kay Helen and Jane Mildred, were born. In 1949 they purchased a farm just north of Harrisonville, Missouri and lived there until Jim's death in April, 1977.

She and her husband, Jim were active in the University of Missouri Extension. Mildred was president of the Cass County Homemakers Extension Club from 1964-1965. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville, having served on many committees and as a Sunday school teacher and was a past president of United Methodist Women Club. She was a member and past Regent of Mary Sibley Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a member of Cass Medical Center Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting with the church quilters and at home.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Robert, William and John and sisters, Helen and Laura May and her husband, James on April 2, 1977. She is survived by two daughters, Jane Childress, Lee's Summit, Missouri and Kay Ritchie, Spring Hill, Florida; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
