Michael James Poe, 32, Garden City, MO, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2009, surrounded by his family at St. Luke's East in Lee's Summit, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville, MO. Burial will be held in Rose Hill Cemetery, Latour, MO. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.

Michael was born July 2, 1976 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Danny Ray and Mary Ann (Brown) Poe. He graduated from Raytown High School. He married Marcey on October 25, 2002 in Independence, MO.

Michael worked for Mobility First until his illness forced him to quit. He spent many Wednesday evenings with his dad and brothers, racing his Henry J at KCIR drag strip. Michael loved cars.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Danny Poe on April 8, 2007 and his maternal grandparents, Vernon and Helen Brown. He is survived by his wife, Marcey and his precious son, Luke Poe, of the home; his stepson, Jeffrey Morton, Raytown, MO; his mother, Mary Ann Poe, Garden City, MO; his brothers, Daniel Poe, Harrisonville, MO, Thomas Poe, Garden City, MO and Andrew Poe, Independence, MO; his paternal grandparents, Ray and Mary Poe, Warsaw, MO, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins that adored him. Michael was kind and loving and strong and brave to the end.
