Obituary
Michael "Mike" Earl Fools, 50, Harrisonville, MO, died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Tulsa, OK. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2010 at the Church on the Rock, 27712 SW Outer Road, Harrisonville, MO. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, November 19 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. (Cremation). A memorial fund has been set up for Mike's children at the Country Club Bank, P.O. Box 447, Harrisonville, MO 64701.
Mike was born October 13, 1960 in Pratt, KS, the son of Willie J. and Erldene (Clarkson) Fools. He married Wanda Marie Hampton on April 4, 1998. Mike was a Deputy Sheriff for the Cass County, Missouri Sheriff's Office for 23 years. He had previously worked at the Muskogee County, Oklahoma Sheriff's Office and the Lathrop, Missouri Police Department. Mike was an Alderman for the 4th Ward in Harrisonville.
He loved to canoe and kayak and had kayaked in the Missouri 340 Race from Kansas City, MO to St. Louis, MO for three years. He had a 5th Degree Black Belt, was an instructor, and taught women's self defense classes. He taught Defensive Tactics at the Police Academy and was a member of the Kansas City Metro Squad. He was a member of Church on the Rock in Harrisonville. Mike was a U. S. Army veteran.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, one brother, Daniel Fools and one grandson. He is survived by his wife, Wanda of the home; four sons, Michael Hiatt of Harrisonville, MO, Trenton Clark of Warsaw, MO, Adam Fools of Harrisonville, MO and Keaton Fools of Harrisonville, MO; six daughters, Ashley Washington of Checotah, OK, Ashley Burrage of Harrisonville, MO, Rachel Reay of Porum Landing, OK, Allison Clark of Warsaw, MO, Brooklyn Fools of Harrisonville, MO and Kelsie Fools of Harrisonville, MO; his father and stepmother, Willie J. and Joyce Fools of Porum, OK; two brothers, Billy Fools of Porum, OK and Donnie Fools of Tulsa, OK; two sisters, Debbie Kuntz of Lewiston, ID and Kathy Dopp, CA and five grandchildren.
