Julia Merle Davis, 94, Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away, Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Merle was born November 28, 1925 in Archie, MO, a daughter of William Allen and Mary Dosha (Freizner) Ladd. She was a lifelong Harrisonville resident and attended Bybee Rural School #89, Mt. Zion Rural School #63, and was a 1943 graduate of Harrisonville High School.
Merle was united in marriage to Ira E. Davis in Olathe, Kansas on April 6, 1946, following Ira's discharge from the Army, after having returned home from Pearl Harbor in October of 1945. She was a homemaker and worked as a commercial secretary for Tip-Top Plumbing for 17 years before her retirement. She was a member of the Abiding Love Baptist Church in Harrisonville.
Merle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ira, on December 15, 1991; a son, Jimmy, on September 20, 1966; five brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her son, Billy G. (Sharon) Davis, Harrisonville; two grandsons, Timothy Davis and Jamie Davis, both of Harrisonville; and five great-grandchildren, Mason, Jordan, Jasper, Tabitha and Joshua.
Graveside services were held Monday, November 30, 2020 at Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
