Mary Frances Robb Smith, 92, Raymore, Missouri, formerly of Peculiar, Missouri, died Friday, November 18, 2016 at The Rehab Center of Raymore in Raymore, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri with visitation from 10:00-10:30. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Peace Valley Cemetery in Anderson, Missouri.
Mary was born November 2, 1924 in Wentworth, Missouri the daughter of Frank Robb and Merle (Knowles) Robb. She graduated from Pierce City, Missouri High School in 1941. During WWII she worked as Rosy the Riveter for North American Aviation, working on B-25 Bombers, in Kansas City, Kansas.
On November 15, 1945 she was united in marriage to Robert Ray Smith in Kansas City, Kansas. She was a homemaker, until 1980 when she went to work for Kinder Castles Preschool in Harrisonville, Missouri; working there for 20 years. During that time she went to Penn Valley and Longview Community Colleges earning her Associates degree in Early Childhood in 1990. She was a charter member of Master Gardener of Missouri. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Peculiar, Missouri. Mary had lived in Peculiar for 40 years.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert, on October 22, 2001, one brother, Charles Clay Robb and sister-in-law, Betty Robb. She is survived by three daughters, Roberta Wedge (Keith), Rolla, Missouri, Carol Smith of New Mexico, and Jane Smith of Adrian, Missouri; one sister, Dorothy Hagewood (Salem), Springfield, Missouri; sister-in-law, Phyllis Kennedy, Kansas City, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews, and long-time care giver, Dana Harker (James Graves), Peculiar, Missouri.
