Mary Ann Poe, 72, of Polo, MO (formerly of Garden City, MO), passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Liberty Hospital. A funeral mass was held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Harrisonville, MO, followed by interment in Rose Hill Cemetery in Latour, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in honor of Danny and Mike Poe be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Mary Ann was born on August 6, 1949 in Kansas City, MO, to Vernon A. and Helen (O'Neil) Brown. She grew up in Ruskin Heights and attended and graduated from St. Catherine's and Bishop Hogan High School. She married her childhood sweetheart, Danny Poe on April 11,1969. They were together for 38 years before his untimely passing. Mary worked for the IRS and most recently as a customer service representative for an insurance company. She was a member of Church of the Annunciation in Kearney, Missouri.
Mary was an avid reader with a deep interest in politics and her Catholic Religion. She had a wonderful sense of humor which helped her deal with the loss of her husband and one of her children. Her smile and easy laughter cheered all who were fortunate to know her. She was a big fan of the Royals and Chiefs. Her love of Salvador Perez, Patrick Mahomes and her dog Charlie was surpassed only by her love of her family and her faith.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Danny; her son, Michael; and her parents. She is survived by her brothers: James, Dennis (Beth), and Thomas; sister, Patricia (Mike); sons: Danny (Chris), Tom and Andrew (Kristy); 9 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
