Mary Elizabeth Nickel, 100, of Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Golden Years Care Center. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Burial in Floral Hills Cemetery in Raytown, Missouri
Mary was born on February 11, 1919 in Carrollton, Missouri to Harry and Stella (Lakey) Graham. She grew up in Carrollton, later moving with her family to Texas. She married Cline Calvin Nickel on April 9, 1937 in Texas. Mary and Cline then moved to Kansas City, MO where their two sons, Allen and Larry, were born. Cline passed away in March of 1963. Mary remained in their home in Kansas City until moving to Independence in 1969, where she would remain until moving to Harrisonville in 2015. She spent her career as a seamstress working for Gay Gibson Clothing in Kansas City.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cline; her son, Allen "Nick" Nickel; 2 brothers, Jack Graham and Scovern Graham; and her granddaughter, Misty Chamberlain Nickel. She is survived by her son, Larry (Cheryl) Nickel, of Harrisonville; 5 grandchildren: Greg Nickel, Stephanie Halterman, Allen Nickel, Jr., Chuck Nickel, and John Nickel; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and 3 nephews, Terry Graham, Gary Graham and Jack Graham.
