Mary Lou Helverson, 73, Harrisonville, Missouri died Saturday, August 14, 2010 at St. Lukes Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Memorial services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2010 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. The family will receive friends Thursday 6:30-7:00 p.m. at the chapel.

Mary Lou was born October 16, 1936 in Tulsa, OK, the daughter of Joseph Everett and Grace Eileen (Turner) Johnston. She grew up in Kansas City and was a 1955 graduate of Southeast High School in Kansas City.

Mary Lou had lived in Freeman, MO and Houston, TX before moving to Harrisonville in 1983. Mary Lou was an EKG technician at Saint Luke's Hospital in Kansas City from 1972-1978 and later worked in Houston, TX.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, one son and one daughter. She is survived by one son, Vernon Helverson of Olathe, KS; two daughters, Jody Ruth Allbrook and Pamela Denyse Phillips, both of Freeman, MO; two sisters, Carol Buenteo of Corpus Christi, TX and DeeAnna Esquibel of Houston, TX; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
