Mary Lou Flippin, 88, Archie, MO, died May 25, 2017 at her home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 30 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO with burial in Climax Springs Cemetery, Climax Springs, MO. Contributions may be made to Brookdale Hospice, 3131 S. State Route 291 Suite C, Independence, MO 64057.
Mary Lou was born December 28, 1928 in Windsor, MO, the daughter of Russell B. and Ura Vista (Smith) Grey. She grew up in the country, seven miles south of Windsor. She went to the Baptist Church in Mt. Olivet and was converted as a young girl. While in high school, Mary Lou worked at a Fly Factory. She graduated from Windsor High School in 1946 and went to work at the International Shoe Co. in the office at Windsor. She met her husband, Ellsworth L. Flippin while working at the Shoe Co. They were married July 3, 1948 in Clinton, MO. Mary Lou worked at A. M. Castle Steel in the office before having children. They had three children, Debbie, Denise and Darrell.
They moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1986. In 1992 they moved to Arizona. They later moved to Texas and then to Archie, MO in 2006. She loved her family and enjoyed all of their get-togethers.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Betty Sue Greer, and two grandchildren, Cole Dalton and Jeremy Flippin. She is survived by her husband, Ellsworth Flippin, of the home; one son, Darrell Flippin (Sandy), Kansas City, KS; two daughters, Debbie Dalton, Raymore, MO and Denise Lough (Loren), Lee's Summit, MO; one brother, Lonnie L. Gray (Suzanne), Windsor, MO, and 5 grandchildren, Justin and Matthew Flippin, Garrett Dalton (Anna), Ashley and Travis Lough.
She will be missed by family and friends.
