Mary "Doris" Ewers, 86, of Harrisonville, MO departed this life on Friday, July 9, 2010 at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville. Graveside services 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Wills Cemetery, Peculiar, MO. Visitation on Monday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Heart of America Chapter, 3846 W. 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208.

Doris was born October 4, 1923 to Ann Geneva (Callahan) and Charles Horsley in Richmond, MO. She married L. Gilbert Ewers in 1957 and was married 18 years until his death in 1975. She held many jobs over the years, but she last worked for PWSD #9 for twenty years before retiring in 1993.

She is preceded in death by her parents,her husband and one sister, Betty Ann Peterson. She is survived by a son, Tony Thomas and his wife, Donna, of Peculiar; one brother, Murray Horsley and his wife, Margaret, of Prescott, AZ; two grandchildren, Joy Dawn Thomas and Brian Thomas both of Peculiar, MO; three great-grandchildren, Tristan, Trenity and Aidan.
