Mary J. A. Cooksey, 84, Olathe, KS, died Friday, April 11, 2008 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, MO. Graveside services 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens, Shawnee, KS, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville, MO. Contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64145.
Mary was born June 1, 1923 in Springfield, MO, the daughter of Ole O. and Ina M. (Courtney) Lowe. She married Albert W. Cooksey in April, 1942. Mary was a homemaker. She raised her family in Shawnee, KS and lived in Shawnee until moving to Olathe three years ago.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Sharon Cooksey, Olathe, KS; two sons, Dennis Cooksey, California and Jerry Cooksey, Olathe, KS; four grandchildren, Leah Fisher, Kara Ponder, Lori Cooksey and Alecia Cooksey; two great-grandchildren, Johnathan Dickinson and Lauryn Ponder.
