Marva Jo Oyster, 75, El Dorado Springs, MO, died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the Pleasant Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center in Pleasant Hill, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, MO. Burial will be in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO. Marva was born February 25, 1933, in Deer Creek Oklahoma, the eldest child of Frank and Alice (Baty) Michael. On December 10, 1955 she married Charley Leonard Oyster at the Broadway Christian Church in Wichita Kansas. Three children were born to complete the family.
Marva was a mother, wife and homemaker who made family and church activities a priority in life. She worked for a short time at Bendix and retired as a Cass County employee. She was a secretary to the county commissioners and a Deputy Auditor prior to retirement, moving to El Dorado Springs in 1993. She enjoyed gardening, playing the piano at church and planning family gatherings at "The Farm" and then at the lake cabins.
Preceeding her in death were her parents, Frank and Alice Michael and step mother, Linabell Michael, as well as an infant sister, Mary Kathleen. She is survived by her husband, Charley, of the home and her children, Mike Oyster and wife Stacy, Freeman and their children, Bethany Villaverde and her husband Barry (children Brandon, Luke and Jase), Reid Oyster and wife Lynette, Pam Caskey and husband Ron, Pleasant Hill and daughters, Allison and Victoria, John Oyster and wife Debbie, Drexel, and children Michael Bradford (children Justin and Brenna), Shelly Ernst and husband Robert, (daughters Jillian, Halli and Peyton), Tamra Bicknell (son Bryce). She is also survived by her siblings, Paul Michael and wife Fran, Blackwell, Oklahoma, Nell Mann and husband Lewis, Coffeyville, Kansas and Diane Stephens and husband Glenn, Tulsa, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews and Michael, Baty and Dunn, cousins from across the country.
