Marty S. Burns, 95, Olathe, Kansas died Monday, October 2, 2017 at Homestead of Olathe, Olathe, Kansas. Private graveside services will be held at Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.


Marty was born July 25, 1922 in Kansas City, MO, a daughter of James Francis and Martinette (Rawlings) Sims. She lived in Kansas City and was a 1940 graduate of Westport High School in Kansas City. She was united in marriage to Charles Frank Burns, August 2, 1941 in Kansas City, MO.

Marty had worked as a key punch operator and loved to cook and travel. She was a proud, strong, independent woman, and had no fear of saying exactly what she had on her mind. She enjoyed visiting with her friends at her assisted living facility and those who knew her will miss her feisty personality.

Marty was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, on September 30, 1981, a son, Joe, and a daughter, Jean. She is survived by a granddaughter, Deborah, a niece, Janet, and a great niece, Julie.
Julie, who spent a short time with Marty, has many stories and great memories that will always be remembered. At Marty's request the services will be private. Go Get 'em Marty!!
