Marlin Henry Sexton, 83, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. A memorial service, with military honors, was held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Real Life Assembly Building Fund in Peculiar, MO.
Marlin was born on May 8, 1942 in Minden, Louisiana, a son of Henry Felix and Bernice (Martin) Sexton. Marlin was a retired Air Force Master Sergeant, having served almost twenty four years before his retirement in 1986. Marlin met the love of his life, Paula Kay Steuben, while he was stationed at Lincoln Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska, and they were united in marriage on July 31, 1966 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was stationed all over the United States and the world until his retirement at Whiteman AFB in Knob Noster, MO. They made their home in Peculiar after his discharge in 1986. Never one to sit still, Marlin then worked as a claims adjuster for Cartwright Van Lines for 20 years before retiring again in 2006.
Marlin was a member of the Raymore Optimist Club and the Real Life Assembly in Peculiar. He was a volunteer at the Belton Regional Medical Center Emergency Room for over ten years, and he and Paula were foster parents for forty three children over eleven years.
Marlin was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Diann Mann. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Paula Sexton; a son, Marlin "Marty" Henry Sexton, Jr., and wife, Keri, of Peculiar, MO; two daughters: Jauna Weber and husband, Jeff, of Harrisonville, MO; and Karin Hook, of Sugar Creek, MO; seven grandchildren: Kayleigh (Dalton), Ashlee, Gage (Tabitha), Mason, Kale, Kyla, and Christian; and two great-grandchildren: Leo and Ollie.
