Marilyn Mae Tiedeman, 82, Harrisonville, MO, died Sunday, February 24, 2008 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, MO. Funeral services 1:00 PM Thursday, February 28 at the First Baptist Church, Peculiar, MO. Visitation 6:00-7:30 PM Wednesday at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville. Burial in Wills Cemetery, Peculiar. Contributions to the church youth center.
Marilyn was born April 22, 1925 in Lamoni, IA, the daughter of Joseph and Edna (Bradley) Garland. Marilyn was united in marriage to Hugh Edward Tiedeman on January 22, 1955 in West Plains, MO.
Marilyn had worked as a seamstress at a shirt factory in Iowa and in Pleasant Hill, MO. Also, working in manufacturing at the Anaconda Wire and Cable Company in Harrisonville. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Peculiar, MO where she served as a Sunday school teacher. Marilyn enjoyed canning, sewing, gardening vegetables and flowers, quilting, reading and babysitting her grandchildren.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Scott and Bob Schipper, a brother, Keith Garland, a son-in-law, Fran Suhre and a grandson, Keith Cooper. She is survived by her husband, Hugh, of the home; one son, Mike Tiedeman, Camdenton, MO; five daughters, Ruth Ann Davis and husband Rick, Urich, MO, Jeannie Nichols and husband Terry, Harrisonville, MO, Carol Berryman and husband Ken, Holden, MO, Phyllis Suhre, Harrisonville, MO and Lisa Mitchell and husband Rick, Olathe, KS, one sister, Faye Becker and husband John, Jefferson City, MO; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Garland, Springfield, MO; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
