Marilyn Nadine Hale, 89, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Friday, April 15, 2016 at her son's home in Garden City, Missouri, surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with visitation from 1:00-2:00. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Marilyn was born January 7, 1927 in Cowgill, Missouri, the daughter of Ocie Geneva Coffman. She attended school in Cowgill until her marriage to William E. Hale on March 23, 1942. Her early adult life mostly focused on providing a loving home for her husband and their five sons in Freeman and later in Harrisonville. After William passed away from cancer in 1978, Marilyn went to work for the Social Security Administration until her retirement.
Marilyn was an avid reader and enjoyed life's travels with her kindred spirit sister and other family members. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Harrisonville. Marilyn was a warm, intelligent, loving person and was a joy to family and friends. She leaves a special place in each of our hearts that will be forever cherished and never forgotten.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her mother, Ocie Coffman, one sister, Norma Maxine Brown, and her husband, William, on August 12, 1978. She is survived by five sons, Jim (Debbie) Hale, Garden City, Missouri, Ronnie (Linda) Hale, Harrisonville, Gary (Becky) Hale, Garden City, Missouri, Darrell (Diana) Hale, Raymore, Missouri, and Steve (Miccie) Hale, Peculiar, Missouri; 7 grandchildren, Lance, Lea, Lauren, Chris, Doug, Jason, and Heather; several great-grandchildren, and other family members.
