Marie J. Darnell, 78, Garden City, MO, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO.  Funeral services were held Monday, June 24, 2019 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO, with burial in Austin Cemetery, Archie, MO.

Marie was born June 17, 1941 in Van Buren, AR, a daughter of Herschel and Ruth (Tuggle) McVeety.  She was a graduate of Carson City Nevada High School.  Marie married Warren Lee Darnell on August 24, 1985 in Bartlesville, OK.  They moved to the Harrisonville area in 1999.  She was a member of Church on the Rock in Lee's Summit, MO and had worked as a cashier for Wal-Mart.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Warren on October 24, 2011, and one daughter, Lisa Marie.  She is survived by a daughter, Becky Gibson, San Francisco, CA; one son, Raymond Osborne; 4 grandsons, and 3 great-grandchildren.
