Margie Fae Sherwood, 80, Independence, Missouri, died Friday, August 14, 2015 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri, with visitation from 1:00-2:00. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Waifs.
Margie was born June 20, 1935 in Beckville, Texas, the daughter of Burtis Henry and Donna Fae (Gilpin) Conway. She was a 1953 graduate of North Kansas City high School. She married William B. "Bill" Sherwood on August 15, 1954 at Sunset Hills Baptist Church in North Kansas City, Missouri. Margie had lived in Independence since 1959. She worked for Centerre Bank as a secretary. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Independence.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Bill, of the home; one son, Darren Sherwood (Cheryl), Independence, Missouri; one daughter, Karen Thomas (Randy), Blue Springs, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Dustin Slaven, Jon Slaven, Neal Thomas, Melissa Thomas, and Eshelle Smead (Tom), and 4 great-grandchildren, Elena Slaven, Makla Smead, Harper Smead, and Kendal Smead.
